It's the final countdown!

It's time to get your teams registered and find your carts and costumes! The big day is coming fast!

Make sure you bring a phone in case you need to text, call, or take a pic (that's the only hint you're going to get on that!)...

Oh...if you have a GPS you can bring that, too!

We'll send out an email with all the little details (like the starting line address) Thursday or Friday. Watch for it!

 *******
Mask Costumes will give 10% off if you need any costuming items.

'Bout Time will have $1.00 sodas for everyone involved with the Iditarod.

Little Caesar's is donating pizza again, but when it's gone, it's gone!

Bring some extra $ in case you're still hungry (the burgers and fries at 'Bout Time are awesome!)

*******
Oh. We've heard from the challenge locations....they love the teams
and have planned  PERFECT challenges this year!

Weather Watch 2012:
So far it's looking like 42 degrees and partly cloudy.
We'll keep you updated.

Rain or Shine, the Iditarod goes on!

One week left to register!

Teams have until February 29th to get registered! That helps us so we can print out all the maps, scoring sheets, and other papers needed for the big day.

(Honestly, we're not so cruel that if the deadline passes and you still want in we'll take you!)

Fill out the form on the "Team Registration" tab, then go to the PayPal link
on the LEFT side of the page to pay your doggie dues!

We have our second Press Release out and we're hopeful that some of these media outlets will help us promote this event a bit more! If anyone has an "in" with a radio station let us know. All starting lines need some music, right?

We're selecting a panel of judges to score the "Best Cart / Costume" award this year. Judging will take place around 9:45 AM before the 10:00 AM start. We thought you would like to look fresh and lovely for judging!

Families and friends wanting to come watch and cheer you on:
  • Pick up spectator maps at the start line. Each challenge location will have an area marked off for spectators, too.
  • Also, the site of our after party, 'Bout Time, is family friendly and all ages are welcome! They have a great selection of sodas, some juices, and killer nachos (along with lots of other great food)! Feel free to hang out as long as you want....
  • Please follow all laws and event guidelines. Please drive safely. Please don't give away secrets like what the next challenge will be. Teams can sabotage another team, but families can WATCH.

One last note:  we've had some teams have a rough time finding 5 people/dogs for their team. We'll relax that rule and say "4-6 members" can make a team.  We hope this helps! Disclaimer: some challenges may be more difficult with only 4 on your team. We're just sayin'....

Want to sponsor a challenge location?

We still need 2 more businesses willing to sponsor challenge locations. It's easy....and a serious amount of fun! This is how it works:

We have a map of locations you can pick from for your challenge. We have ideas and groups available for the challenge, we just need people to check in the teams, explain the challenge and rules, and write down scores. We'll provide the scoring sheets, instructions, and a ham radio operator in case of any type of emergency.

You bring signs or banners to show off your business (great way to get your name out there), a table or two so you have a working surface, and some energetic people. If you really want some fun, bring a camera!

Businesses that actually "sponsor" make a minimum $250 donation to our event in exchange for getting your name all over our sites and in any media references. You also get a team in the event for free. Do you know 5 employees that could use a good dose of fun? Sponsor this event and watch your staff have the time of their lives!

Here is the link to get started!

3 weeks!

We're counting down the days and looking forward to meeting the teams this year!  Get your teams registered by February 29th so we have a few days get everything pulled together.

Stray carts are everywhere right now ~ post your pictures of strays to the FB page and see if we can help some teams find a really sweet cart!

If you need help with costuming, Mask Costumes on the NW corner of 5400 South Redwood Road is the place to go. They have a full assortment of ideas and are willing to help you find just the right look.

We're working on getting Channels 2 and 5 to come out and do a show with us. If any of the teams want to participate in TV spots send us an email. Last year with Casey was a blast!

If anyone has an "in" with a local radio station will you send us some info? It may be worth some bonus points....

Remember, proceeds from this event go towards the YMCA Healthy Kids Day AND food for the Food Bank!

See you soon!

Keep Calm!

A bit of inspiration for teams getting ready for this epic event!

Print it up and hang it on your fridge. :)

This is how it works

You've seen these posts and wondered....

You've lurked (we do love lurkers!)

Your curiosity gets the best of you.

Well, this is how it works -

1 - You find 4 buddies (5 people to a team) and sign up on the registration page

2 - Figure out some costume and cart decoration ideas

3 - Find a shopping cart that is lost and needs an adventure. Bring it home with you to try out some decorating ideas, lube it's wheels and get it ready for an adventure!

4 - Watch your email for the starting location which will be sent out 1-2 days before the event. The general area will be around 5400 South Redwood Road in Taylorsville.

5 - Notify all your fans and families. We will have spectator areas (and a map for spectators to know where to go) this year. All good teams need a loud cheering section!

6 - Show up before 10 AM on March 3rd to sign in and get your map. Your team will be given a number to secure to your cart. Keep track of your map as each challenge location will sign/stamp/punch your map once you have completed their challenge.

7 - Go find the challenge locations, compete, commit random acts of sabotage, have fun, be enthusiastic, and CROSS ALL MAJOR ROADS ON THE CROSSWALKS! Dance, laugh, be crazy and have fun!

8 - Once you have hit at least 5 challenge locations, return to the finish line and join us for a party at Bout Time Pub and Grub! Bring some $ to get sodas, sandwiches, killer nachos, and more! We'll see if we can get a big stack of pizzas donated again this year! We'll announce the winners and hand out prizes. They rock!

Bribery of the judges is accepted. It likely will not change your score - but we reserve the right to be totally impressed with your efforts! We just may make an award for the best bribes!

We're 3 1/2 weeks away from an unforgettable event! Sign up!

The proceeds from this event go towards a Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA, and other great events in Taylorsville. If we get enough interest we really want to make a nice donation to our local Food Pantry. Help us help others!
